your family is trying to decide between two cable companies. satellite systems charges $49 to set the service and $29 per month for basic cable. the other company, communications cable, charges $25 to set up the service and $37 per month for basic table.
a. in how many months will both services cost the same?
b.what will that cost be?
c. which systems should you choose if your family will only need the service for 6 months?

S=Satellite; C=Communications; m=number of months
S=$49+$29m
C=$25+$37m
PROBLEM A:
S=C
$49+$29m=$25+$37m Subtract $25 from each side.
$24+$29m=$37m Subtract $29m from each side.
$24=$8m Divide each side by $8.
3=m ANSWER 1: Both companies cost the same at three months.
PROBLEM B:
S=$49+$29(3)=$49+$87=$136 ANSWER Both companies will cost $136 for the first 3 months.
PROBLEM C:
After the break even time, the company with the lower monthly rate is the better deal. So Satellite Systems would be a better choice for 6 months.
