You can put this solution on YOUR website!
At a fast food restaurant 3 chicken sandwiches and two large orders of french fries cost $8.87 and five chicken sandwiches and 4 large orders of french fries cost $15.55. How much does each item cost?
-------------
Value Eq:: 3c + 2f = 887 cents
Value Eq:: 5c + 4f = 1555 cents
----------------------------
Modify for elimination::
6c + 4f = 2*887
5c + 4f = 1555
--------------------
Subtract and solve for "c":
c = 219 = $2.19 (price of a chicken sandwich)
-------------------
Solve for "f":
3c + 2f = 887
3*219 + 2f = 887
657 + 2f = 887
2f = 30
f = 15 = $0.15 (price of an order of french fries)
-------------------------------
