3x + 4y = 14
x = 2y - 12

from the second equation we know x = 2y - 12, therefore
substitute for x in the first equation
3(2y - 12) +4y = 14
6y - 36 + 4y = 14
combine like terms
10y = 50
y = 5
x = 2*5 - 12
x = -2
our answer is (-2, 5)
which is answer B

-6 + 20 = 14

3(2y - 12) + 4y = 14
6y - 36 + 4y = 14

Y = 5
