tangent is positive in quadrants 1 and 3.
the quadrant that contains a negative sine and a positive tangent is quadrant 3.
use your calculator to confirm.
pick an angle in quadrant 3.
it has to be greater than 180 degrees and less than 270 degrees.
i'll choose 225 degrees.
any angle in the third quadrant will do.
sine (225) = -.707
tangent (225) = 1
sine is negative and tangent is positive.
quadrant 3 is the one.
