A person drove 24 mph on a trip. If he had driven 36 mph he would have arrived 2 hours earlier. What was the distance traveled?

Let distance driven, be D
Then time taken = D%2F24
Time he/she would’ve taken had he/she driven 36 mph: D%2F36
With difference in time being 2 hours, we get:
D%2F24+=+D%2F36+%2B+2
3D = 2D + 144 ------- Multiplying by LCD, 72
3D – 2D = 144
D, or distance traveled = highlight_green%28144%29 miles
