You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X= the number
3(X-2)=X+6
3X-6=X+6 Add 6 to each side
3X=X+12 Subtract X from each side
2X=12 Divide each side by 2
X=6
CHECK:
3(X-2)=X+6
3(6-2)=6+6
3(4)=12
12=12
