Question 948149: Please....I need step by step detailed algebra instructions on how to get an answer for the below question.
Andrew and Kerri invested $195,000.00 in a business venture.
If Kerri invested 2 1/4 times as much as Andrew invested, how much did each invest?
Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! let x be the amount Andrew invested, then Kerri invested (2.25)*x and
x + 2.25x = 195000
3.25x = 195000
x = 60000
therefore
Andrew invested $60,000 and Kerri invested $135,000
check answer
60000 + (2.25 * 60000) = 195000
60000 + 135000 = 195000
195000 = 195000
