You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a newspaper carrier has $6.30 in change. he has three times more quarters than dimes but four times as many nickles as quarters. how many coins of each type does he have?
Equations::
5n + 10d + 25q = 630 cents
q = 3d
n = 4q
-----
Substitute for n and d and solve for "q"::
5(4q) + 10(q/3) + 25q = 630
----
Multiply thru by 3 to get:
60q + 10q + 75q = 1890
145q = 1890
q = 13.034..
Note: q must be a whole number.
