You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The sum of a number and 8 is tripled: 3(x+8)
the result is six than twice the number = 2x-6
So we have:
3(x+8) = 2x-6
3x+24 = 2x-6 now subtract 24 from both sides
3x+24-24 = 2x-6-24
3x = 2x-30 this time subtract 2x from both sides
3x-2x = 2x-2x-30
x = -30 Let's plug our answer into the original problem:
3(-30+8) = 2x-6
-90+24 = 2(-30)-6
-66 = -66 Our answer is correct: -30
