So, the length would be 4x+2, and "x" stands for the width. The formula for the perimeter is length plus width plus length plus width, or 2 times the length plus 2 times the width. So, 2(4x+2) + 2(x)=84. So, 8x+4 + 4= 84. So, 8x=76. So, x=9.5.
So, the width is 9.5 cm and the length would be 4(9.5)+2=40. So the dimensions are 9.5 cm. by 40 cm.
