You can put this solution on YOUR website!
He sells 1/3 of the cars on monday
That means he has 2/3 left
--------------------------
On tuesday, he sells (1/4)*(2/3) = 1/6
of these cars, leaving (3/4)*(2/3 = 3/6
3/6 = 1/2
--------------------------
On wednesday, he sells (1/2)*(1/2) = 1/4
leaving 1/4 of the cars
---------------------
1 - 1/4 = 3/4 is he fraction he sold
He sold 75% of the original cars
-------------------------------------
check
suppose he started with 300 cars
Monday he sells (1/3)*300 = 100
leaving 200
--------------
tuesday he sells (1/4)*200 = 50
leaving 150 cars
-----------------
Wednesday he sells (1/2)*150 = 75 cars
leaving 75 cars
--------------
In all, he sold 300 - 75 = 225 cars
225/300 = .75
.75*100 = 75%
OK
