Question 945476: When Mr. Worth died, he left an estate worth $325,000. His will specified that 35% of his estate should be divided equally among his 5 children, and 3/5 of his estate should be divided equally among his 12 grandchildren. The remainder was to be divided equally among his 8 great-grandchildren. Find how much more, in dollars, one of his grandchildren will receive than one of his great-grandchildren. Express your answer as a decimal rounded to the nearest hundredth. Thanks for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
35% to the 5 children
3/5 or 60% to the 12 grandchildren
100-35-60=5% to the 8 great-grandchildren.
.
.
So the grandchildren receive,
325000%280.60%29=195000
Since there are 12 of them, each grandchild receives,
G=195000%2F12=16250
and the great-grandchildren receive,
325000%280.05%29=16250
Since there are 8 of them, each great-grandchild receives,
GG=2031.25
So the difference is
D=G-GG=16250-2031.25=14218.75
