You can put this solution on YOUR website!
L=length, W=width, P=perimeter
L=2W+10
P=2(L+W) Substitute for L
P=2((2W+10)+W)
P=2(3W+10)
P=6W+20 P=620 ft (given)
620 feet=6W+20 Subtract 20 from each side
600 feet = 6W Divide each side by 6
100 ft=W ANSWER 1: Width of parking lot is 100 ft
L=2W+10=2(100)+10=210 feet ANSWER 2: Length of parking lot is 210 ft
Dimensions of parking lot are 210 ft long by 100 ft wide.
CHECK
Perimeter=620 ft=2(L+W)
620 ft=2(210 ft+100ft)
620 ft=2(310 ft)
620 ft=620 ft
