---------------------------add both eq.1 and eq.2 to eliminate ...both sides multiply by
go to ......eq.1 substitute for and solve for ..both sides multiply by
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 2x-3y=6
x+2y=4
add these two equations and we get
3x - y = 10
y = 3x - 10
substitute for y in second equation
x + 2(3x - 10) = 4
x + 6x - 20 = 4
7x = 24
x = 24/7
substitute for x in first equation
2(24/7) -3y = 6
48/7 -3y = 6
48/7 -3y = 42/7
-3y = -6/7
y = 2/7
our answer is x = 24/7, y = 2/7
