2S=L+7 Substitute for L
2S=(S+2)+7
2S=S+9 Subtract S from each side
S=9 ANSWER 1 Smaller Number is 9
L=S+2=9+2=11 ANSWER 2 Larger number is 11
CHECK:
Double the smaller is 7 more than the larger.
2S=L+7
2(9)=(11)+7
18=18
