Question 944334: Mike made a trip in 40 hours. Joe made the same trip in 30 hours because Joe was traveling 6 km per hour faster. How many km was the trip?
So far I have (I am using the formula amount=rate*time)
A=6(km)*30
A=180
180=R*40
R=140
so is the trip 180km?
I have no idea if I am going in the right track?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Mike made a trip in 40 hours. Joe made the same trip in 30 hours because Joe was traveling 6 km per hour faster. How many km was the trip?
***
let x=mike's rate
x+6=Joe's rate
travel time*speed=distance (same for both Mike and Joe)
..
40x=30(x+6)
40x=30x+180
10x=180
x=18
40x=720
How many km was the trip? 720
