You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let x=amount of time it takes 2 people to finish the same job
3 people work at the rate of 1/8 of the job per day
1 person works at the rate of (1/8)/3=1/24 of the job per day
2 people work at the rate of 2(1/24)=1/12 of the job per day
So our equation to solve is:
(1/12)x=1---(1 job that is)
x=12 days
ANOTHER WAY
It takes 3*8=24 people-days to do the job
3 people can do the job in 24/3=8 days
2 people can do the job in 24/2=12 days
etc.
