Question 942732: Hello! Here is the question I need help understanding:
"Write an equation for a linear function whose graph has the given characteristics: (-2,2)(2,-12)
I have tried m=y2-y1 over x2-x1, and I get -14/4 but that answer comes back incorrect. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thank you so much

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You have the right idea.

Subscript 1, (-2,2);
Subscript 2, (2,-12);
m=%28-12-2%29%2F%282-%28-2%29%29=-14%2F4=-7%2F2.

Now, take your pick: Use either slope-intercept form or use point-slope form.

If slope-intercept,
y=mx+b, and you know m.
b=y-mx, and just pick either of the given points for x and y.
