You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x=amt of time it would take Greg to paint the room himself.
Then Greg paints at the rate of 1/x of the room per hour
David paints at the rate of 3/x of the room per hour
So our equation to solve is:
6*(1/x)+6*(3/x)=1 (1 room, that is)
6//x + 18/x=1 multiply each term by x
6 + 18 =x
x=24 hours -------time it takes Greg to paint the room himself
CK
(1/24)*6 + (3/24)*6=1
6/24 + 18/24=1
1=1
