Question 942186: parallel lines and proportional parts of triangles
There is a triangle with a line that divides the triangle and is parallel to the bottom of the triangle. The left side of the triangle has measurements of 6 and 8, or 14 in all. The right side of the triangle is divided into 15 and x. What is the value of x? please help me, thank you.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If x is the corresponding partner to 8, then
6%2F14=15%2F%2815%2Bx%29
90%2B6x=210
6x=120
x=20
If x is the corresponding partner to 6, then,
8%2F14=15%2F%2815%2Bx%29
8%2815%2Bx%29=14%2A15
120%2B8x=210
8x=90
x=90%2F8
x=45%2F4
