Question 941884: A box contains 30 cookies when it was bought. The empty box weighs 2 ounces and each cookie weighs 1/2 ounce. If one third of the cookies have been eaten, what is the weight of the box and the remaining cookies? Answer by srinivas.g(540) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! total no of cookies = 30
no of cookies eaten = 1/3 of total
=
= 10
no of cookies remaining = 30-10
= 20
weight of each cookie = 1/2 once
weight of 20 cookies = 20* 1/2
=10 ounces
weight of empty box = 2 ounces
weight of the box = weight of remaining cookies +weight of empty box
= 10+2
= 12 ounces
Result : weight of the box = 12 ounces
weight of remaining cookies =10 ounces
