You can put this solution on YOUR website!
IN a shipment of 40 stoves, 2 are defective. What percentage is defective?.
==============
2/40 = 1/20 = 0.05
% is per 100
0.05*100 = 5%

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To figure the percent divide the portion you have (2) by the total number (40)
and multiply by 100% So:
(portion/total) x 100%=percentage
(2/40) x 100=percentage
0.05 x 100=5%
We are actually finding 1/100 (1%) of the whole and dividing our part to how many 1%s are in it:
portion%2F%28total%2F100%29 is equivalent to%28portion%2Ftotal%29100
But the second is easier to use
