Multiply the second equation by 5.
10x%2B25y=-55
Add the two equations together to eliminate x.
-10x%2B6y%2B10x%2B25y=24-55
31y=-31
y=-1
Then use either equation to solve for x

-5x-3=12
-5x=15
x=-3
