If the product of two consecutive positive even integers is equal to 168, then what are the integers. Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! let the first even integer be x
then the next even integer will be x+2
The product is 168
x(x+2)=168
x^2+2x=168
add 1 to both sides
x^2+2x +1 = 168+1
(x+1)^2= 169
take the square root
x+1 = +/- 13
x= 13-1=12
Or -13-1=-14
But the number is positive
12 & 14 are the numbers
