Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
6 is 40% of what number

An equation that works to solve every percent problem is:
a = pb
a is the "part"
p is the percent as a decimal
b is the "whole"

6 = 0.4b {substituted 6 in for the part and 0.4 in for the percent in decimal form}
b = 15

The box will hold 15 cans, when full.
