You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Ramon has traveled 126 mi from start
Ashaki has traveled 62 mi from start
So, they are +126+-+62+=+64+ mi apart
and Ramon is ahead
------------------------
Let +t+ = time in hrs for Ashaki to catch him.
She is +64+ mi behind, but she is traveling
faster, so it is possible to catch Ramon.
Let +d+ = the distance in miles that Ashaki
has to travel to catch Ramon.
-----------------------------------
Ramon's equation:
(1) +d+-+64+=+50t+
Ashaki's equation:
(2) +d+=+58t+
----------------
Substitute (2) into (1)
(1) +58t+-+64+=+50t+
(1) +8t+=+64+
(1) +t+=+8+
Ashaki catches up with Ramon in 8 hrs
check:
(2) +d+=+58t+
(2) +d+=+58%2A8+
(2) +d+=+464+ mi
and
(1) +d+-+64+=+50t+
(1) +d+-+64+=+50%2A8+
(1) +d+=+400+%2B+64+
(1) +d+=+464+
OK
