Question 937326: Fifth grader homework question. "7/8 x c for c = 8". Does this mean 7/8 x 8 and the answer is therefor 7? Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Sometimes the use of parens can help to clarify the problem:
If the problem is (7/8)xc when c= 8, then you have the correct answer:)
If the problem is 7/(8xc) when c=8 then the answer would be 7/64
Usually parens can really be helpful when dealing with fractions
