the length is 8 times its width
hence length = 8*x
=8x
perimeter of land = 40 m
plot is in shape of rectangle
perimeter of plot (rectangle) =2(length+width)
+40+=+2%288x%2Bx%29
40 =2(9x)
40 = 18 x
divide with 18 on both sides
+40%2F18=+18x%2F18
20%2F9+=x
hence width (x)= 20/9
area = length* width
=+8x%2Ax
= 8x%5E2
but x= 20/9
area = +8%2A%2820%2F9%29%5E2
= +8%2A%2820%2F9%29%2A%2820%2F9%29
=39.5
result: area of plot of the land = 39.5 m^2
