You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = speed of faster car
y = speed of slower car
---
x = y + 10
---
s = d/t
s = 300/3
s = 100
---
speed of cars relative to each other:
s = x + y
s = y + 10 + y
s = 2y + 10
---
equate s's:
2y + 10 = 100
2y = 90
y = 45
x = 55
---
answer:
x = speed of faster car = 55 mph
y = speed of slower car = 45 mph

This means the faster car will go 30 miles total more than the slower car. So that means the slower car + the faster car=300. Th faster car is 30 +the slower car, so it is 2(slower car)+30=300 so that means 2 times the slower car is 270. But they have driven 3 hours, so each car goes 45mph and 45+10=55mph.
ANSWER:45mph and 55mph
