Question 93704This question is from textbook Geometry
: Please help me find the value of x in this equation.
x^2+2x=8 This question is from textbook Geometry
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x^2+2x=8
x^2 +2x -8 = 0
This can be factorised using middle term factorisation.
x^2 +4x - 2x -8 = 0
==> x(x + 4) -2(x + 4) = 0 (taking common factor)
==> (x-2) (x+4) = 0
==> x-2 = 0
==> x-2+ 2=0 +2
==> x= 2
now consider x +4 = 0
==> x + 4-4 = 0-4
==> x = -4
Hence x = 2 and x = -4 is the solution for the equation.
