You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = martin age
y = angel age
z = janessa age
---
x = y - 2
z = 3y
x + y + z = 78
---
put the system of linear equations into standard form
---
x - y = -2
3y - z = 0
x + y + z = 78
---
copy and paste the above standard form linear equations in to this solver:

---
solution:
x = martin age = 14
y = angel age = 16
z = janessa age = 48

-----
Equations:
m = a -2
j = 3a
m + a + j = 78
---------------------
Substitute for "m" and "j" and solve for "a"::
a-2 + a + 3a = 78
5a = 80
a = 16 (angel's age now)
-------
m = a-2 = 14 (martin's age now)
-------
j = 3a = 48 (angel's age now)
-------------
