You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The airplane takes off 12 1/2 miles south of a city
speed =180 mph
duration = 45 min = 45/60 hrs = 3/4 hr
distance traveled during 45 min = speed * time
=180%2A%283%2F4%29
=45*3
=135 miles
so plane traveled 135 miles due north
but plane already traveled 12.5 miles south
effective distance traveled in north direction = 135-12.5
=122.5 miles
plane is 122.5 miles north to the city after 45 min
