You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let t be normal travel time.
Let d be distance one way.

Key fact, RT=D for rate, time, distance.
5%2A%28t-5%2F60%29=d, and 4%2A%28t%2B5%2F60%29=d.
Solve the system for t. Use either of the equations of the system to find the value of d.

Actually, you have 5%28t-1%2F12%29=4%28t%2B1%2F12%29
5t-5%2F12=4t%2B4%2F12
60t-5=48t%2B4
12t=9
t=3%2F4-------Time in HOURS, the normal expected walking time.

Use that to evaluate d.

If Ram walks from his house at 5 kmph, he reaches school 5 min early, and if he walks at 4 kmph he reaches 5 min late. What is the actual distance between
let the distance be x
and his normal speed be y
normal time = x/y
Condition I
5 minutes = 5/60 = 1/12 hours
speed = 5 kmph
time = x/5
x/y -x/5 = 1/12
Condition II
x/4 -x/y =1/12
Add the two equatations
x/4 -x/5 = 1/12 + 1/12
x/20 = 2/12
x/20 = 1/6
x=20/6
x=3.33 km
