You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Mike and Joe take 3 3/4 hrs to do a job. Joe alone takes 10 hrs to do the same job. How long would it take Mike to do the same job alone?
------------------
Together DATA:: time = 15/4 hr/job ; rate:: 4/15 job/hr
Joe DATA:: time = 10 hr/job ; rate = 1/10 job/hr
Mike DATA: time = x hr/job ; rate = 1/x job/hr
-----
Equation:
rate + rate = together rate
1/x + 1/10 = 4/15
---
150 + 15x = 40x
----
25x = 150
x = 6 (time for Mike to do the job alone)
----------------
