Question 933267: if sum of two consecutive whole numbers are 61,what are the larger number?\
Answer by algebrahouse.com(1659) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x = first consecutive whole number
x + 1 = second consecutive whole number
x + x + 1 = 61 {the sum of the two consecutive whole numbers is 61}
2x + 1 = 61 {combined like terms}
2x = 60 {subtracted 1 from each side}
x = 30 {divided each side by 2}
x + 1 = 31 {substituted 30, in for x, into x + 1}
30 and 31 are the two consecutive whole numbers
