Question 932398: I have a 74.4 as a grade in my trigonometry class. I just took a final that is worth 25% of my grade. What do I need to make in order to make a B in the class? I get two points added to my overall grade, so I guess you could say I have a 76.4, but either way i'd like to know. Thanks!

x = score on final


Assume that 0.80 is the lowest threshold for a B or B-


0.744*0.75 + 0.25x = 0.80


0.558 + 0.25x = 0.80


0.25x = 0.80-0.558


0.25x = 0.242


x = 0.242/0.25


x = 0.968


So you need to get a final exam score of 96.8% or better to get an overall grade of 80% or better.
