Question 932069: the distance between two stations A and B is 250 km. two trains starts simultaneously from A and B in opposite directions. the distance between them after 2.5 hrs is 25 km. if the speed of one train is 10 km/hr more then other .find the speed of each train

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The distance between the stations is 250km and after 2.5 hours the trains are 25km apart.
The total distance that the trains have traveled is 250km - 25km or 225km.
Let X be the speed of the slower train in km/hr
225km+=+2.5X+%2B+2.5%2A%28X%2B10%29
Simplify the equation
225+=+2.5X+%2B+2.5X+%2B+25
Combine like terms
225+=+5X+%2B+25
Subtract 25 from both sides
200+=+5X
Divide both sides by 5
highlight%2840+=+X%29
The slower train is moving at 40km/hr.
That means that the faster train is moving at 50km/hr
