You can put this solution on YOUR website! find the slopes of the lines that pass through the following pairs of points?
a) (1,2)(3,5)
slope = change in y/change in x
slope = (5-2)/(3-1) = 3/2
------------------------
given that slope of the line and point of the line how do i find the equation for the line?
The equation form is y=mx+b. You now know m= 3/2 and y=2 when x=1 so you get:
2 = (3/2)*1 + b
Therefore b = 1/2
So the equation is y = (3/2)x+(1/2)
----------------------------------
a) a line of slope 4 passing through the point (0,2)
Form of the line is y=mx+b and you know
m= 4 and y= 2 when x = 0.
2 = 4*0+b
b=2
-------------
EQUATION:
y = 4x+2
