Question 92900: Which of the ordered pairs (3,1), (0,-4), (-4,0), (-3,-7) are solutions for the equation x-y=4?
Answer by chitra(359) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! To find which of the given sets form the solution, we plug in each of the ordered pair in the given expression and then find out the right solution.
Lets plug in the first ordered pair.
(3,1) ==> x - y = 4
Lets plug in both x and y in the above eqn.
3 - 1 = 2 which is not equal to right hand side value, that is 4.
So hence not a solution.
lets plug in the next ordered pair (0,-4) .here we find that this is one of the solution for the given expression.
Lets check with the next one that is (-4,0), On pluggin in the given expression we find that this is not the solution for the given expression.
the last one (-3,-7), when we plug in this ordered pair in the given expression we find that this also holds good and thus a solution.
Thus we see that among the given four ordered pairs, (0,-4), (-3,-7) forms the solution for the given expression.
thus the solution
