Question 928745: The lengths (in inches) of two sides of a regular pentagon are represented by the expressions 7x-29 and 6x-3. Find the length of a side of the pentagon.
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! With any regular polygon, the sides are equal.
So the regular pentagon has all 5 sides equal.
Set each expression equal to each other and solve for x.
7x - 29 = 6x - 3
7x - 6x = -3 + 29
x = 26
Then we use this to find the length of each side.
7x - 29 = 7*26 - 29 = 182 - 29 = 153
Each side is 153 units long
