You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x + 4y = -6
x - 5y = 17
:
Multiply 2nd equation by 3 and subtract from the 1st equation:
3x + 4x = -6
3x -15y = 51
------------- subtracting eliminates x
0x +19y = -57
y = -57/19
y = -3
:
Find x using the 1st equation:
3x + 4(-3) = -6
3x - 12 = -6
3x = -6 + 12
3x = 6
x = 2
:
Check solutions in the 2nd equation
2 - 5(-3) = 17
2 + 15 = 17
