You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the focus of the parabola: 8x+3y^2 = 12
3y^2=-8x+12
3y^2=-8(x-3/2)
y^2=-(8/3)(x-3/2)
This is an equation of a parabola that open leftwards;.
Its basic form of equation:(y-k)^2=4p(x-h), (h,k)=coordinates of the vertex
For given problem:
vertex:(3/2,0)
axis of symmetry: x-axis or y=0
4p=8/3
p=8/12=2/3
focus:((3/2-2/3),0)=(5/6,0) (p-distance left of vertex on the axis of symmetry)
