if x +2y=32 and y / 2x=0.75 what are the values for x and y?


x + 2y = 32 -------- eq (i)

y%2F%282x%29+=+.75______1.5x = y____1.5x - y = 0 ------- eq (ii)          

3x - 2y = 0 ------ Multiplying eq (ii) by 2 ------- eq (iii)

4x = 32 ------ Adding eqs (iii) & (i)

x = 32%2F4, or 8

8 + 2y = 32 ------ Substituting 8 for x in eq (i)

2y = 32 - 8

2y = 24

y = 24%2F2, or 12
