Question 92696: I need to know if my answers are correct. I am to classify each of the problems as real and rational, real and irrational, or imaginary. Are my answers correct?
a. (2)^1/2 + 2 - Real and rational
b. i - Imaginary
c. 0 - Real and rational
d. 3-(-5)^½ i - Real and imaginary
e. (100)^1/5 – Real and rational
f. 30007 - Real and rational

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Are my answers correct?
a. (2)^1/2 + 2
Real and irrational because sqrt(2) is irrational
--------------------
b. i - Imaginary
----------------------
c. 0 - Real and rational
-------------------------
d. 3-(-5)^½ i = 3-[i*sqrt(5)*i] = 3+sqrt5
Real and irrational
------------------------
e. (100)^1/5
Real and irrational because 100 is not a perfect 5th power
--------------------------
f. 30007 - Real and rational
---------------------
g. (8)^1/3 - Real and rational
-------------------
h. 4+0i - Imaginary
----------------------
The ones I have not added a 2nd line to are correct.
The others I have corrected.
