Question 926239: Please help to solve this Radical Expressions and Equations word problem. Here is the question: Gardening. a rectangular garden has sides of 28 and 45 feet. Find the length of a path that extends from one corner to the opposite corner.

So if you draw a line from one corner to its opposite corner you create a right triangle. That line that you just drew is the hypotenuse. And you know that to find the hypontenuse of a right triangle this is the formula:
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
So now you substitute:
28^2 + 45^2 = c^2
784 + 2025 = c^2
2809 = c^2
c = sqrt(2809)
c = 53 ft
