Question 926161: Find all solutions in the interval [0, 2π) (increasing order) for the equation below. Enter DNE in any empty blank.
24 tan3 x = 8 tan x
What I have so far:
24tan^3(x)-8tan(x)=0
tan(x)(3tan^2(x))=0
therefore:
tan(x)=0
1/cos(x)=0
cos(x) = 0
and
3tan^2(x)=0
tan^2(x)=0/3
tan^2(x)=0
cos(x)=0
Is this right?
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Find all solutions in the interval [0, 2π) (increasing order) for the equation below. Enter DNE in any empty blank.
24 tan^3(x) = 8 tan(x)
What I have so far:
24tan^3(x)-8tan(x)=0
8tan(x)(3tan^2(x)-1) = 0
therefore:
tan(x)=0 or tan(x) = 1/sqrt(3)
---
If tan(x) = 0, x = 0 or pi
If tan(x) = 1/sqrt(3), x = pi/6 or (5/6)pi
