You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hello,
1. Ok so it says that the sum of two numbers is 67 and their difference is 4. So we can write:
x + y = 54
x - y = 4
Now using any of the above you have to make x stand by itself on one side:
x = 4 + y
And now we substitute "x" with "4 + y" on the other equation:
4 + y + y = 54
2y = 54 - 4
y = 25
Now we know that " x= 4 + y " so:
x = 4 + 25 = 29
Now lets check and see if our answer is correct or not:
29 + 25 = 54
29 - 25 = 4

2. You have to do the exact same for this question:
x + y = 67
x - y = 13
x = 13 + y
13 + y + y = 67
2y = 54
y = 27
x = 13 + 27 = 40
Check:
40 + 27 = 67
40 - 27 = 13
