Question 925911: part 1) In planning for the concession stand, the national supplier of food sent you the following equations, where x represents the number of people in the park, d represents the number of drinks needed, p represents the number of bags of popcorn needed, and h represents the number of hotdogs needed. Solve each equation in terms of the food item (p, d, and h).
a. 3p - x = 84
b. 3d - 2x + 3 = 0
c. 2x = 5h - 35
part 2) Now that you have solved each equation for the food item, in terms of the people, explain what these equations mean. You might give a context in terms of the amusement park situation.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! The wording is a little bit complicated, but the directions say solve each of the three equations for x. The variables, p, d, h, are taken as constants. There may be a narrow relationship between p, d, and h.
x=3p-84, x=(1/2)(3d+3)=(3/2)(d+1), x=(5h-35)/2
Not sure how the equations would be used. More likely, the quantity x could be used to estimate the amounts of p, d, and h expected.

Part 2.
Equation:
The number of bags of popcorn needed can be calculated by adding 84 to the number of people in the park, and then
dividing that sum by 3. However, the sum of the number of people in the park, and 84 should result in a number that
is a MULTIPLE of 3, if the PRECISE number of bags of popcorn is to be provided.
Now, you should be able to explain the meaning of the other 2 equations, based on this example.
