You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the factors are (x+1) * (x-3) = 0

set each of these factors equal to 0 and solve for x to get:
x - 3 = 0 results in x = 3
x + 1 = 0 results in x = -1

the roots are:
x = -1 or x = 3

the sum of the roots are 3 - 1 = 2
the product of the roots are 3 * -1 = -3

the sum of the roots minus the product of the roots = 2 - (-3) = 2 + 3 = 5.

the sum of the roots exceeds the product of the roots by 5.
