Question 925498: Please help me solve the problem below: I am confused on how to setup my problem because my units are not canceling out correctly
Here's the problem: You jogged 3 miles to a friend’s house and it took you 45 minutes to get there. How many miles per hour do you jog?
This was my approach:
time/distance=45min/3miles x miles/1hr=45min/3mi x miles/60min = 1/4 miles
Is this correct?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
time/distance=45min/3miles = 15 min to go 1 mi, which is 4 mph

Answer to your comment
The formula of course, Speed = dist/time, s = d/t
:
In this problem you are dealing with miles per hour, so we need the times in hrs
45 min = .75 hrs
s = 3/.75
s = 4 mph
